Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus – Halloween Horror Month Movie Spectacular 2013 Day 7

Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus
I started watching Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus expecting it to be bad. To be honest I only put it on my list to watch so that I could say that I’ve seen it. “Oh yeah,” I’d say when the topic of the movie came up in conversation, “I’ve seen that. It was crap.” Now ideally I’d have something more witty than “it was crap” to say, but I’d have to actually have seen the thing to come up with something more apposite. Thus, I resigned an hour and a half of my Monday night to doing just that.

Government cover up for no reason, maverick scientist standing up to unpleasant career-obsessed boss, science so bad it would make a creationist weep, anthropomorphizing nature, blood thirsty and overconfident military, effects that make an enormous shark jumping out of the ocean and attacking a passenger airplane entirely uninteresting… In short, the movie was possibly worse than I expected.

It did have one redeeming quality. It started with a couple of minutes of nice shots of mountains.

About Ted Dahlberg

I'm a stoic, a pessimist, a bookworm, a skeptic, and possibly other things which take more than one word to say.
