Pandorum came as a nice surprise the first time I watched it. It obviously brings to mind Alien, with a similar setting and atmosphere. But it does its own thing, and does it well. I’m actually surprised by the apparent lack of interest in Pandorum. Perhaps it simply hits all the right buttons for me. It is certainly better than the abysmal Prometheus, which I wanted dearly to like but couldn’t. A big part of the appeal of Pandorum was having no idea where it was going and having the mystery gradually revealed. But even knowing where it was going, it held up pretty well on this second viewing. Probably not a movie I’ll re-watch often, but I can definitely see myself going back to it.
