While still remaining firmly in B movie territory, Without Warning is a definite step up from yesterday’s Sharknado. I hadn’t heard of it until I saw it described as something of a precursor to Predator. I can see the comparison, although no one should go into Without Warning expecting something on that scale or of that quality. The plot boils down to an alien hunting unsuspecting (to begin with) humans, but the similarities mostly end there. Still, it’s a decent B movie that isn’t too predictable. Its major advantage over something like Sharknado is that the characters have more, for lack of a better term, character. They may not always act the way actual people would, but they are odd or stupid in mostly interesting ways. And if that’s not a major part of the appeal of B movies, I don’t know what is.
